Frequently asked questions

Who runs the Centre?

It is staffed by trained volunteers. We are independent of the Courts, Social Services and other statutory agencies. We are at hand at all times if you need us, and we'll do anything we can to make the situation easier for you and the children.

How are visits arranged?

Either by:

1. Referrals from Solicitors, Courts, Social Services etc.

2. Self referral. If you feel we might be able to help you , contact us to by phone or e-mail. We would then ask you to come for an interview so that we go over all the information, show you around the Centre and can check that it is suitable. We will then contact the other party and do the same with them. After that has been done we will set up the first visit.

What if I can't come?

If you can, please try to let the other party know and also phone the Centre in advance - 0151 489 9304. If no-one is available, you can leave a message on our answerphone. You can also e-mail us at roby-cc@hotmail.co.uk

Do we have to meet?

No. Let us know in advance if you don't want to meet your ex-partner or other family member. You can come at staggered times, use a separate entrance and wait in a separate lounge.

May I bring someone with me?

Only if stated on the court order or is mutually agreed beforehand.

Can my child go out?

Only if it has been agreed beforehand with the other party or the court. Some families use us as a 'handover' point.

Do's & Don'ts

Parents are responsible for the safety and supervision of their children at all times whilst in the Centre and we ask that you wait with them until your ex-partner or other family member arrives.

Alcohol, drugs, or anyone under the influence of these, will not be permitted in the Centre.

Smoking is not allowed on the premises or in the grounds.

Photographs may be taken by prior arrangement, but the use of a video camera is not allowed.

You will be given a fuller list of our guidelines on your first visit. Any queries, contact the Co-ordinator beforehand.

Sorry - but we reserve the right to withdraw use of the Centre if the terms of the agreement you reached before attending are not honoured, or if you behave in a way that is unhelpful to those running or using the Centre.
